We had the option of diving with NITROX (NOT NITROUS OXIDE!). This is an air mixture which contains MORE oxygen and LESS nitrogen. In brief, it protects us against the “bends” and gives us more “bottom time” than we would otherwise have on straight air (which is what most divers and we usually dive with).
