Mantas have a unique underside pattern which allows for them to be identified by researchers. There are two species. The “Chevroned” or “Eppelted” mantas and the “All Blacks”. They do interact, and from our experience, the “All Blacks” seemed to be a bit more “in charge”. However, in general, the “chevroned” mantas were more playful (with a few notable exceptions).
