Though a very small minority, this sign IN ENGLISH gets the point across how at least a few of the locals feel about being a “Chilean Dependent”. Frankly, Chile gains much more from the relationship as tourism is pretty strong here due to the unique Moai of Rapa Nui. The locals know it and some of them resent it.
