This is one of the two most impressive areas of Easter Island. The island has three volcanic cones (this is the second highest). It is close to the sea and was rich in the rock that created the Moai. You can see Moai standing at the base of the volcano. There are approximately 950 KNOWN Moai on Easter Island. The island is approximately 17 miles long and 8 miles wide. It is considered one of the most isolated populated islands ANYWHERE on Earth.
