Lonesome George is a cult figure in the Galapagos. He is the only known member still living of his species of Giant Tortise. So far unsuccesful attempts have been the result of trying to mate Lonesome with his nearest genetic relatives. If no success is achieved, they will attempt to clone him. An entire industry has risen in the islands around this one tortise.
